Review: At first when i read about this movie I was quite interested but the name Takashi Shimizu immediately killed my interest. However since there was nothing good to watch I thought just give it a try if its boring i can turn it off. Considering Takashi Shimizu movies are poorly executed this is his most decent flick to date as stated by a previous reviewer. Its watchable, decent storyline but too rushed. If only the ending wasnt so rushed it would be a very decent horror flick.Overall it is watchable not slow like most movies directed by Japanese directors. Just dont expect anything from this movie.

Review: OMG!!! This movie cannot be simply described in words. If you loved X men first class then this movie is a treat for you. This is a movie even non-x men fans will enjoy. Go see this movie guys. Your mind will be blown. Ive already seen this movie and looking forward to see it again. Hugh Jackman does the best wolverine ever. He became the wolverine i wanted to see on screen for ages. The interesting chemistry between James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender is more enjoyable than ever. But jennifer lawrence and Evan Peters at Quicksilver steal the movie. Quicksilver may not look so cool but he is the coolest guy in the whole movie. Believe me, this movie is worth your bucks. Moreover there are a bunch of new x men characters introduced in the movie which make it more enjoyable.Bryan Singer has done complete justice to this movie. And there is one scene just halfway through the movie which is worth watching fifty times. I am thoroughly excited to see the next entry entry in series which is being called Apocalypse.The only shortcoming in the movie is the runtime which feels a little less being only 130 mins. Rest of the movie is a jigsaw which fits together in a wondrous puzzle.So you must go to see this movie. Every element is in a balanced form. Even the soundtrack is fitting. Happy watching !!!!

Review: Truly epic in scale! Whilst Gravity falls short against films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, it is a tense and visually stunning thriller from Alfonso Cuarón. Cuarón is one of my all-time favourite directors, and this CGI-heavy project just boasts skill and ingenuity from the director, DOP and VFX artist. The critics stated that you would be gripping to the edge of your seats, this is true in every aspect, the film is full of intense and thriller situations with amazing performances from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Just shy from winning Best Picture over 12 Years a Slave, Gravity left the Oscars with 7 Academy Awards to its name, and it deserved each and every one of them. A masterpiece that allows the viewer to become immersed within the scene to often thrilling effect.

Review: its not altogether fun. i think most who have seen it would agree...but i think its a masterful piece of storytelling. and kudos to tommy lee jones for not giving in an inch to clichés...there was so much that surprised me in this film...the reactions that i always try to guess before they happen...the lines that come out of the actors mouths... sure i guessed SOME of the times in this film...but im not usually as surprised by dialogue/character choices as i was here... it made it all so much more realistic for me, rather than watching characters who are mouthing lines of people whove seen too many bad movies and not met or done enough interesting people or things, respectively... there was one major turn in the plot towards the end that was unexpected. but in a way that i felt was also, given what wed seen of this character already, not really in line with who they seemed to be... i know it was based on a book. and all thats in a book can rarely be shown in a two hour film...so im thinking that whatever changes this character had to go through to get from point A to point B might have been left out. Otherwise it didnt really make much sense/needed to make MORE sense than it did...at least for me...i, of course, dont want to be more specific b/c then it would surely be a spoiler. i dont know what reviewer could ever think that i would want to know an important piece of information before ive seen a film... the film was beautiful to look at...the acting was extremely good. i expect Oscar nominations for swank and jones. maybe also director AND , depending on the field, maybe best picture. lets call it a dark horse... ;-)since i know a lot of people who read these might not get around to reading a lot of the comments made by, lets say, the director, id like to leave you all with these words from tommy lee jones: (on how he learned to direct) Ive worked with more than 50 directors and Ive paid attention since day one. Thats pretty much been my education, apart from studying art history and shooting with my own cameras. Ive seen 50 different sets of mistakes and 50 different ways of achieving. You just leave the bad part out.i wasnt crazy about another of joness movies--the three burials-- but this one does what he says above to the frame...if i did just one thing in my life of this quality id feel it was a life worth having lived... you DO know whats happenin...DONT you, mr jones?

Review: I followed Kevin Smiths work on Tusk very closely as I listen to his pod-cast. I love his stuff, sure the guy has bad movies but most directors that have been in the business as long as he has have made at least one less-than-stellar film. So naturally I was excited to see what Kevin Smith did with this material. When him and Scott came up with the concept, I remember thinking it had potential to be a great horror-comedy if handled right. Unfortunately, this film was not handled right. There were numerous times where the film could have used another pair of eyes. And good on Kev for making something really independent, but that turns out to be a really bad thing for this in that Kevin must have missed some of the more major flaws in the film. Some of the acting is unbearable. Theres one scene when Guy LaPointe and Michael Parks character have an interchange in a flashback and it was one the most annoying things Ive seen this year and it felt like it went on forever. It felt like another segment of Movie 43. Like it belonged in that movie. It took a great actor and a great performer and made them absolutely repugnant. I had to leave the theater halfway through the scene and return when I heard it was over. And I know you probably think that Im just the one guy who didnt think it was funny, but we had more walk outs in that scene that anything else I sat through this year. The pacing of the film was strange. It went from being incredibly interesting in the first 30 mins to a complete dead stop at Genesis Rodriguezs monologue. Good on the director for telling us what the back story is instead of showing us. The monologue goes on for a good 3-5 minutes and its unbearably slow. Shes a great actor, we get it. But we didnt need that long of a break from the main story.This movie suffers from something that a lot of horror movies suffer from now and I dont think people realize its happening. Justin Longs character was not a great guy. He was kind of a jerk. So when he inevitably gets put in a walrus suit, guess who cared... No one. We were all kinda like...well good. On top of all that, the walrus suit is one of the most laughably bad designs Ive seen in awhile. Props to Kevin for taking the practical route with it but it looked like a cheap Don Post Halloween mask only all over Justin Longs body. Theres a moment near the end where Michael Parks hits Justin Longs walrus face and one of the tusks moves across his face as if it was attached to the suit and not his face. This was the only time I laughed in the film. Not to mention my laugh was the only laugh in the whole theater for the whole movie. I felt compelled to ask other audience members what they thought and as expected, there were tons of Kevin Smith fans in the audience. They all used the word disappointed. We were all sad. Its not just that the movie does things poorly intentionally but that it seems to not notice how horribly it was put together. It needed another edit, some shots needed re-shot, and it needed another draft badly. Im very disappointed and I feel bad for hating this film. I wanted so bad to love it. I feel bad for Kevin. Good for him making the movie he wanted to make, but unfortunately that movie was a 3/10.

Review: If youre into crime movies and dialogue-based movies with a firm stir of action, go watch this. But dont forget: what you see is what you get. If you dont like the atmosphere of the trailer, you wont like the movie. If you do, dont hesitate. Loved Bullhead of Roskam as well, but its a total different genre of movie, although ita also an intense crime-picture. I think this is a film that concentrates a lot of fresh Hollywood-talent, with a great amount of quality. We should definitely keep an eye on Hardy, Schoenaerts, Naomie. And of course, if you like Gandolfini/The Sopranos, you shouldnt even be reading this because it was his last movie and hes great in it!

Review: Adapted by its director, Hossein Amini, from a little known novel by Patricia Highsmith The Two Faces of January turns out to be a highly satisfying tale of murder most foul very typical of Miss Highsmith. OK, so its not on the same level as The Talented Mr Ripley, Plein Soleil or Strangers on a Train but with its emphasis on plot rather than action its still a cut above a good many of todays so-called thrillers. Also typical of Highsmith is that the principal relationship in the film is between two men, (though one of them is married while the other starts to fall for the wife). The married one is Viggo Mortensen, apparently rich and touring Greece but also harboring a dark secret. The wife is pert little Kirsten Dunst and the man who falls for her is tour guide Oscar Issac. At first Issac thinks he has the upper hand, swindling Mortensen out of a few thousand dollars only to realize quite early in their relationship that he has bitten off more than he can chew. After awhile Dundsts character becomes almost redundant as the men start to play power games with each other. Whereas the male/male relationships in other Highsmith adaptations were mostly homo-erotic with at least one of the characters clearly drawn as gay. Here the relationship is meant to evoke a father and a son, (Issacs character has issues with his dead father). This slightly dilutes the dark heart of the picture. Movies like The Talented Mr Ripley and Strangers on a Train worked as well as they did because the villain was clearly homosexual and psychopathic and you never knew where his temper and jealous rages might take him. In this movie Mortensen is undoubtedly the jealous straight guy while Issac is just too nice, (hes too sweet to be a real con-man). Still, all three leading players are excellent and Amini tightens the screws very nicely as the film progresses. Filmed, for the most part, in Greece it will also prove something of a boost for the Greek Tourist Board this summer.

Review: This sequel is better in every conceivable way. The action might take up a little less screen time percentage wise, but is more brutal (way more), even better choreographed, varied and memorable. I think this movie has the greatest overall collection of fight scenes in the history of action cinema, and a fantastic car chase too. Obviously I havent seen every movie in existence, but I have never seen anything with such a collection of incredibly well done and brutal fights. Characters have depth to them, even if on a comic book level, and are well cast and well played. Story is fairly intelligent, and more than services the action. Everything else; filming, editing, sound design, stunts, special effects are stellar. There are quite a few how the hell did they do that?!? moments.

Review: INTO THE STORM: Three and a Half Stars (Out of Five) Found footage disaster flick directed by Steven Quale and written by John Swetnam. Quale previously directed the horror sequel FINAL DESTINATION 5 and also co-directed the underwater documentary ALIENS OF THE DEEP, with James Cameron; he also served as a second unit director on Camerons AVATAR and TITANIC. Swetnam also wrote the horror flick EVIDENCE and the dance film sequel STEP UP ALL IN (which was released the same weekend as INTO THE STORM, for some reason). The movie stars Richard Armitage (of THE HOBBIT films fame), Sarah Wayne Callies and Matt Walsh. I thought it started out slow but ended up with a bang; pretty entertaining stuff! The film is set in the town of Silverton, on high school graduation day. Vice-principal Gary Morris (Armitage) has asked his two sons, Donnie (Max Deacon) and Trey (Nathan Kress), to make a time capsule video, to be viewed in 25 years, of the seniors speaking about where they hope to be in their lives. A deadly storm is about to hit town but the community is unaware of it. At the same time an experienced storm chaser named Pete (Walsh), and his team, have tracked the storm to Silverton; theyre hoping to capture tornado footage for a documentary movie theyre filming. The storm turns out to be much bigger, and more dangerous, than even they anticipated.There is a lot of character development but its not well written and the acting is pretty bad. Walsh is great as the obsessed storm chaser but none of the other characters are very memorable. The first half of the movie is pretty slow, and boring, but it doesnt matter; once the movie gets to the action you get what you paid for. The effects are really well done and the movie is surprisingly suspenseful. I guess you do end up caring about the characters enough to care about what happens to them; because there are some really intense moments.
