Review: Brilliantly acted, nice written and as one would expect from a Martin Scorsese picture, a masterclass with director craft.Showy when it needs to be, but also quiet and meditative. Wolf of Wall Street equivalent to something like good fellas or even more to the casino, but set in the world of finance. Suits can be expensive, but people who wear them are just sick and violent street-gang of his fellow men. Fixed irony and humor in the show depravity of its characters, it marked a bit of a different approach to the world of stock trading than Oliver Stone for Wall Street.Where Stone seems more in line with Bertold Brecht, who considered the theater (or in film this case) moral institution, does not think Scorsese ubiquitous observer of the dark side of the U.S. and in many cases humans dream.Leonard DiCaprio gives another outstanding performance to a large extent by the tragedy even more so when this story of corruption, greed and self-righteousness unfolds. Its large picture showing how over the last 25-30 years our innate gullibility and color, power makes us all wrong in this pyramid infinite distance from any reality. One can almost hear Scorsese clerical background coming to the fore again, according to which no person who is without sin, and therefore we all are prone to corruption. It is our decision on which side we choose to live that makes the difference. For each individual, but also society as a whole. |
