Review: The film is the story of Maximus (Crowe), a Roman general who led the army to victory over Germania at the beginning of the film. The death of the Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius, see this battle. The emperors son, Commodus, and then went with his sister Lucilla, and it is found that Commodus is expected to be announced in the new emperor of Rome in a few days. Aurelius, however, has other plans - he wants to do emperor Maximus, and pray that the general, who wants nothing more than to go home to his family.I went into this film just watching Ben-Hur in my film studies class and after Xena had seen a case of just a few weeks earlier story that included Marc Anthony and Cleopatra. So you could say I'm in the perfect mindset to see sword-and-sandal film. I was not sure what to expect, somehow avoided all the hype that came with this film. But I was not disappointed.Gladiator some amazing cinematography by John Mathieson. The battle scenes are very graphic. (This film is not for the squeamish, that's for sure.) Some scenes in particular that truly impressed me to, for example, when Crowe seems to be floating above the ground very quickly. The use of colors and hues add much to the mood of the film. Script Excellent.Hotel his writing and rewriting as filming was going on, but it does not show that the actors have no idea how the movie ends when they started filming. The acting is superb. Russell Crowe is great in the role of Maximus. Many reviewers agree that it is now officially a star. Joaquin Phoenix also experience nature as Commodus could be emotionally troubled, whose behavior and feelings towards his sister give anyone chills. Connie Nielsen makes you think Lucilla, was actually being torn between loyalty to his brother and naturally do what she knows is right. Oliver Reed, in his last appearance, in his memorable role Proximo, a former gladiator who is the owner of Maximus and brings him to Rome. In short, the actors are great in their roles, not over-acting, but provides a subtle script performances. The strong, even very good. While some elements are a bit difficult to faith - the fact that no one recognizes Maximus when hes slave -? The film requires a willing suspension of disbelief, as one would gladly comply. (It really is not much fun to film such faults.) It is true that this movie follows pretty much the formula Braveheart. But this film contains some elements, such as cinematography and amazing battle scenes graphic (one reviewer compared to Saving Private Ryan, only better), which is amazing in itself. All in all, great movie I recommend. |
