Review: This past week, the American hustle and could not understand why critics are so praised. Yesterday saw RAILROAD MAN and I can not understand why critics have been so dismissive. It is a tense story of one of the great horrors of the Second World War. Based on a true story, it is also a story of love and redemption, two cinemas (and literature), the majority of subjects. And life offers a reminder that in 1940 were Japan, like the Nazis, of different generations, almost a different race. David Bridge on the River Kwai is based shooting a huge shadow over this movie. RAILROAD MAN lacks the majesty is based on the famous epic, but I suspect that Alex Guinnesss seems very theatrical performance standards, the display operates today. Anyway, Colin Firth, to give a bit of a low power performance (and Nicole Kidmans part to give very little work), but Jeremy Irvine's wartime high credibility Lomax, geeky and heroic silence. The horrors of forced labor that built rail and relentless brutality of Japanese soldiers are both vividly passed, and finally manages to be touching without exceeding the mawkishness. This is a strange film, a dark but very nice, . Obviously, it could have been a tougher, wilder, but then it might be difficult to sit through. |
