Review: Although the film is based on real history, a history which is very interesting, the producers could not leave him alone. Instead, as processed that made such an interesting story, uninteresting. The only bright spot in the movie Forest Whitaker. Given that I had to work, he did a great job playing Eugene Allen. Allen was a humble man and that Whitaker captures humility. Initially, Denzel Washington was chosen for the role, but it is unlikely that Washington, as he is a good actor could portray him submissive man.One major weaknesses in the film was the supporting cast. Oprah Winfrey was Miscast as butlers wife. It really distracted from Goines. Oprah was perceived as too strong personality, as if the film is centered around him instead of Goines and his performance was mediocre. In real life, the story was about Elena, and not about his wife, but Oprah made the film so much about it as Alain. There are two reasons to write the story to include frames. Oh, producers wanted her star power, or, more likely, they needed the money to produce the film and had to throw it in the movie great performance it.Other Whitaker, that saved the film is that, by At least, the audience knows about the subtext of this story as fictionalized as it is, what was the butler who served eight presidents of color, was invited by the president of a state dinner, and came to see a black man elected president. But all we could have learned that if you did a television documentary instead of a bad movie. |
